Retaining the tooth in the oral cavity for as long as possible is very important in maintaining oral health. Teeth that experience pulp necrosis require root canal treatment to clean the pulp chamber of infected pulp tissue. The use of traditional medicine from natural ingredients has long been used as a therapy or treatment material by the world population. The use of herbal medicines derived from plants and spices when compared to drugs formulated from chemicals has less side effects, has a relatively more affordable price and is easy to find. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibition produced by garlic extract against bacterial mixtures of tooth root canals. This study is a laboratory study with PostTest Control Group Design. The samples used were mixed dental root canal bacteria which were divided into 5 groups, namely groups treated with garlic extract with concentrations of 25%, 50% and 100%, groups treated with ChKM as a positive control, and groups treated with aquadest as a negative control, with each 5 repetitions. The inhibition produced at 25% extract concentration was 12.68 mm, 50% concentration was 16.19 mm and at 100% concentration was 19.87 mm. The higher the concentration of the extract, the greater the amount of antibacterial compounds released. Where antibacterial compounds identified are saponins, phenols, steroids, terpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins. It can be concluded that the inhibition of garlic extract (Allium sativum Linn) at concentrations of 25%, 50% and 100% can inhibit the growth of bacterial mixtures of dental root canals, with the most effective concentration being in the treatment group containing garlic extract with a concentration of 100%.
